Garena launched the Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6 month professional gaming league that includes more than 100 matches online. GPL's first season is an internet-based League of Legends tournament with six professional teams. Teams are composed of the top players in their respective nations. GPL games are filmed and live streamed online with commentary. The games are available to fans on the official website. Garena Premier League, 2013 will include two teams of Taiwan & Vietnam. The number of eight teams is now expanded to nine. Teams include: AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. It is the Garena E-Sports arena, an esports venue has been opened since November of 2014, in the Neihu District of Taipei. The first studio was opened in the month of November 2014 to coincide with the start of the League of Legends Masters Series. It is the premier LoL Taiwanese, Hong Kongese, and Macau LoL League, which spun off from the GPL. The first month of January in 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League the first women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The event is bi-monthly that takes place in the second and third quarters of each month. This event aims at encouraging the participation of under-represented groups and is accessible to all women who identify an under-represented group. Garena not only organizes tournaments but also organizes offline gatherings and social events that enable users to meet.
